This visual identity and apparel design was created when a fellow designer,
Vanisha from Find Me Lettering, a marketing, design and calligraphy studio based
in Canada, came to me seeking a fun and creative design for apparel merchandise
that would represent the brand but still be able to be worn outside of basketball.
Their current sporting apparel lacked excitement and innovation that resonates
with a young age group. With full creative direction, visual language, and
execution, I created a playful modular system that celebrates motion, abstraction,
and youthful energy that draws from Bauhaus principles — tailored for the
International Basketball and Sports Academy (IBSA).

The design was inspired by the geometry and rhythm of Bauhaus forms — using shapes and lines, the design formed a dynamic system that echoes movement of basketball. The goal was to merge playfulness with structure: a design that feels like sport and modern art in conversation.
Process Overview
Using Bauhaus principles of form, function and simplicity,
the geometric shapes add movement. The futuristic design is
known for bold colors and eye-catching pattern formations. The
Bauhaus promotes unity in design through different elements,
when lends well into the game of basketball. The concept was developed to be striking and versatile, making it suitable for expansion into a wider apparel collection.
Drawing inspiration from Bauhaus, using clean, geometric shapes
and bold colors, the design created a modern-retro aesthetic. A
hierarchal flow from solid to minimal futurism line work, into
pixel like shape and transition of basketball shapes gave a pop
culture feel. To play upon street art, using spray paint gradients
to add texture, lending itself to current trends in design. These
design choices appealed to the age group that this apparel design
was intended for.
Design Concept
A simple and clean design was what best resonated with the age group. This was a design that could be worn outside of IBSA.
The Final Design
The design gave the academy a fresh and engaging visual piece that sets it apart from traditional sportswear aesthetics. The visual system established a foundation for future apparel and merchandise — allowing for consistency across various product formats while maintaining a strong, modern design.
This project allowed me to build a complete design system from concept to production — applying strategic visual thinking, structured layouts, and storytelling across mediums. It also deepened my love for concept-driven work that combines cultural references with contemporary design execution.
