Ahead of the pandemic, in April 2020, we headed out to Knysna for A Seaside Portrait with SA Weddings. Tucked away, along the Western Cape coast of South Africa, lies the peaceful and beautiful luxury beach castle of Pezula Private Castle. Located just under half an hour away from Plettenberg Bay, along the famous Garden Route, this establishment overlooks the serene waters of the Indian Ocean on the secluded Noetzie beach. Part of the Buccara – The Private Collection, this tranquil location is the ideal getaway location for newlywed honeymooner or your intimate engagement or pre-wedding celebrations, or just a personal getaway. It is said to have been home to the famous Nelson Mandela for a few days in 2018 for reflection and peaceful contemplation.
The private castles have an inviting charm, with terraces that overlook the magnificent ocean and enjoyable direct access to the beach. Needless to say, the grounds are exquisite and the service is exceptional with an executive butler and private chef. I can certainly envision couples unwinding here and enjoying the space and quiet after the busyness of planning a wedding.
This destination is fit for one to take a time-out and resort to some self-care. This is exactly how Chanel began her day. With a late morning, awaking to the sound of waves breaking on the seashore and relaxing.
As the day progressed, Chanel spent the afternoon enjoying gin and tonic on the sandy beach, watching the dolphins breach and listen to the birds at shore. As the sun set behind the clouds, Chanel took to the pool and relaxed to enjoy the last few days of summer by the seaside. It was wonderful to have photographed Chanel on this picturesque coast.

Memories of time spent with family and friends, celebrating fleeting moments, birthdays, dinners and so many wonderful occasions come flooding back with their scarcity.
